Response to "The Childrens Story"

I think this story is very confusing at first, but you have to pay very close attention to the small details. Apparently another country has taken over and the class has a new teacher. The new teacher basically manipulates the little kids in the class. She allows them to cut up the American flag because she thinks they should all have a piece of it. However, cutting up the American flag is HIGHLY frowned upon. The teacher also convinces the children that  they shouldn't listen to their mothers and fathers, AND that they shouldn't pray because no one is going to answer what they have to say. When the pledge comes on over the intercom the teacher asks what "pledge" and "allegiance" mean. When the children don't know the answer she tells them that they shouldn't say things that they don't know about. Then she lets the children pray for candy, and convinces them that they should pray to "our leader" instead of God. At the very end of the story the new teacher looks at her watch and it says 9:23. It took her 23 minutes to manipulate all of the little kids in the classroom, and that's crazy! Overall, the story was confusing but when you pay really close attention you realize how convincing, and manipulative the teacher is being towards the children.
